Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I install an automatic sprinkler system?

Watering your lawn properly is a difficult job for any homeowner. During a typical Long Island summer, your lawn can burn up in a couple of days without the proper irrigation. While the initial cost of an irrigation system may seem costly, the benefits of never again having to drag out the hose and keep up with the water demands of your lawn far outweigh the expense.

How long does a sprinkler system take to install?

The answer to that question depends on the size of your lawn. A typical residential irrigation system installation can be done in one day. After the initial visit to the site, our team will be able to estimate the installation time needed for your job.

How much does it cost?

Every system that Hi-Tech Irrigation installs is custom tailored to meet your needs which makes it impossible to give an accurate estimate without seeing your property. We would be more than happy to have a member of our design team meet with you. Give us a call for a free estimate!

Will there be any damage to my property when you install a system?

We use the latest installation equipment to minimize damage to your lawn. If there are excessive rocks and root formations beneath your lawns surface, you may experience temporary damage. With normal watering your lawn should ‘heal’ within 2 weeks time.

I have utilities and/or electrical wires under my lawn. Will they be affected by the installation?

If you have underground utilities, we call the utility companies to mark the lawn before we begin installation. Please notify us of any electrical lines you have run that may interfere with your new sprinkler installation.

Is there a warranty on the sprinkler system?

All new installations are covered by a 1 year 100% satisfaction warranty that includes coverage, parts, and labor. We want you to be happy, so if anything is wrong within the first year, we will fix it to your satisfaction.

Do you do repairs on existing sprinkler systems?

Yes! Even if we have not installed your irrigation system, we are able to make all necessary repairs and upgrades.

Do you handle commercial properties?

Yes! In business for over 40 years, Hi-Tech Irrigation is one of Long Island’s premiere commercial irrigation system providers.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes! We carry all necessary licenses and the highest insurance policies to protect you and your property.

Do you winterize sprinkler systems?

Yes! All sprinkler systems on Long Island need to be winterized and Hi-Tech Irrigation provides all of your winterization needs. We use high powered air compressors to blow out all existing water from your irrigation system to prevent pipes from freezing and cracking during the cold winter months.

Why do I need you to turn my sprinklers on in the spring? Can’t I just do it myself?

Our trained service technicians will check and clean your system, as well as make any adjustments that need to be made. Any sprinkler heads that may have been damaged over the winter will be replaced and we will set your timer for the days/times that are best for your property to ensure a trouble-free season.

Is there a correct time to water?

Yes! The correct time to water is very early in the morning. This avoids burns from the sun during the daylight hours. It also eliminates fungus caused by the dampness from water laying on the lawn over night.
